What Are You Afraid Of?

Day 23 of 40 Days of Lent

What am I afraid of?

fear, Lent, Easter, 40 Days of Lent, Southeast Christian Church

I reflected on this passage from the devotion today: “When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. But He said to them, ‘It is I; do not be afraid’.”

I also thought a lot about the question asked after reading this scripture, “Think about how you would see your current fears and worries if Jesus were sitting right beside you.”

It’s a legit question, but the truth of the matter is, not only is Jesus sitting right next to you, if you are a believer, He lives within your.

That led me to think about the only fear I really have. It is deeply personal. I’m not prepared to share it here today, however, I will say this…it’s because of that fear that I now live my life with the end in mind. It’s because of that fear that I turned and continue to turn (it’s a process) to Jesus and trust Him for my future in a way I never have before.

I have no great attachment to this life on earth and I haven’t since November 2015, though I press on until He returns or calls me home.

God is with us. He is fighting for us always. If we trust Him in our time of greatest angst, we need never live in fear again.

So what are you afraid of?
