There Comes A Time

There comes a time in our lives when we must stop to consider the path we have chosen and the things we have encountered along the way. Time passes quickly.

there comes a time, life, evaluating, Jesus, trusting God, decisions, choosing, owning your actions

The enigma of aging is that the first eighteen to twenty years are spent waiting to get older. Longing for summer breaks during the school years. Becoming a teenager. Passing the driver’s test. Graduating from high school so you can finally be done unless you choose to go to college, grad school and beyond.

There comes a time when reaching adulthood seems to be the goal of every adolescent. That’s the magic age, we tell ourselves, when we are able to make our own decisions and do what we want to do. That’s also when we learn the truth. Being an adult is even more restrictive than being a minor. It reminds me of the whole Santa Claus thing. How disappointing it was to find out Santa was a myth, a fable, a sweet tale passed down from years gone by.

There comes a time when we each get to decide for ourselves how we want to live our lives, the values and purposes we want to guide us. If we’re lucky, we will have someone who loves us to pass those things on. Some of us aren’t that lucky. Here’s the thing though, it doesn’t matter if we have loving parents or not, we each get to choose how to conduct our lives.

There comes a time when we know that we have lived more years than are before us. If we’re smart, we will take stock of how we’ve done up to that point, evaluate if there’s anything we would change and take the opportunity to own our actions and the people we may have hurt.

There comes a time when the veil is lifted, and we see clearly. It may be a moment or longer however long the Creator of all things allows. Time has a way of racing right past the dreams we held dear.

There comes a time when we get to choose to let go of the past, release those who have harmed us whether intentionally or not, and to let Jesus in to heal our hurts.

There comes a time. Is it today? You get to decide.
