Sisters

I love the movie White Christmas. One of my favs. The song Sisters has been going through my head all day. But enough about the movie.

I want a sister. I don’t have one. I am a sister, and I love my brothers, but I need a sister. I remember as a child there was talk of adopting a girl…so I could have a SISTER!!! Never happened. Not that I’m holding that against anyone. No need for therapy or anything. I’m good. But I still want a sister….

I had coffee with a friend Friday. Well, I actually had tea, and she had coffee, but that’s beside the point. Anyway, she was talking about going shopping with her sisters (sisters-in-law) and all their kids of the female persuasion. It sounded like sooo much fun!

I have another friend who has three sisters. They do a lot of things together. Vacations, Bible studies, shopping trips and such.

I have another friend who has two sisters. One lives several hundred miles away, but they are close regardless. I WANT A SISTER!!!

Okay, in all fairness, I have heard the stories of sisters who don’t get along. It seems like there is no middle of the road when it comes to this sister thing. You love each other, or not.

And there are always sisters-in-law, too. I have a few of those…seven to be exact. But we don’t do things together… for a number of reasons, from living in different cities, to they have their own sisters and tend to go that route. The sisterless problem wasn’t solved by marriage. And still I long.

So I have decided to find a family of sisters and adopt myself into their sisterhood. Not looking to replace the family I am in. Nope, they’re all keepers, but I’m thinking of expanding.

This is all uncharted territory (though I have my eye on a group or two). Not sure how to go about it. Maybe I should Google it to get the ball rolling. I am open to suggestions (and an invitation or two) just saying.

So there. I’ve said it. Let the search begin.

  1. Hi Laurie – thanks for stopping by, new follower of yours as well. 🙂

I loved this movie, too. My grandmother and I would watch this together every year when it came on during the holidays, before the days of recording it or buying a DVD so seeing it just that one time a year made it special. This may sound funny, buy my mother and my aunt memorized this song and sang it for the family when I was about 9 years old. They were being ridiculous, but good memories LOL

Hope you find your sister group soon. Have a great day – Renee.

  2. Oh, I love White Christmas, too. I have four sisters, but I’m actually much closer to the “sisters” in the grandmahood over at my blog, Grandma’s Briefs. My real sisters never visit there; my grandmahood sisters do daily. I love that. You’re welcome to join us.
