Seeking God’s Will

Seeking God’s will and Listening To God go together. According to Psalm 139, God has a plan for our lives but we each have a part to play.

It seems like a good time to be seeking God about His plan, possibly more than ever. Here’s the thing about seeking God’s will, it’s not because of adverse circumstances, although that would be a reason to do so, but due to where they have brought us.  We are the products of circumstances and choices in this life.

All the choices we have made, all the people in our lives, all the conversations we have with other people, all our interests and desires He has given us, and all those things combined are the reasons we should continue to seek God and His will for us because nothing happens by chance.

seeking God, God's will, trusting God when life doesn't turn out the way you planned, trust

Psalm 25:13 says; He himself shall dwell in prosperity, and his descendants shall inherit the earth. The Nelson Study Bible notes that verses 11-14 is David talking about his own sinfulness, as well as expressing his desire for the Lord to teach him to fear Him. Verse 14 says- “The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant:”. Those who fear the Lord, the study Bible notes, pay attention to His instructions, thus learning the secrets of God’s wisdom.

This is what seeking God’s will for your life looks like.

This all seems very relevant, especially in these days of uncertainty with present economy and employment distresses. So many people with so many questions. Let us continue to seek His will, and therefore, find it, knowing that faith is the only sure thing there is.

It is becoming more obvious every day how much we need to seek the will of God. The world is a mess. Our country is pretty messy too, and I can write for hours about the personal messiness and devastation going on in the lives of so many that I know.

No one escapes this world unscathed. No one. Some people may encounter more difficulties than others, and the degree of struggling may vary, but we all have things to walk through that we’d rather not. Seeking God’s will in those matters is imperative.

How is life going for you? Are you seeking God’s will for your life? I would love to hear what that looks like.
