Savannah Georgia

On our 30th wedding anniversary, almost five years ago, my husband and I visited Savannah, Georgia. What a beautiful, picturesque place it is!

We stayed at River Street Inn, a historical building which once served as a cotton warehouse back in the 1800s. The inn sits right on the banks of Savannah River, which is a major exporting body of water. The sights were amazing! The staff at River Street Inn are friendly, polite and quite helpful.

We have visited Jekyll Island before on our 30th wedding anniversary. The last time we stayed a few days. This time it was just for the night but it was great to be back!

We loved our view from the balcony of our room, although the balcony was standing room only. It was a great place to watch people walking below on the brick roads as they shopped, dined and listened to the street musicians play their instruments and show their stuff!

The room itself was decorated very nicely. The hardwood floors were nice. They were old and sort of squeaky when you walk on them but a very inviting room.

They provide big, comfy robes that were nice to wrap up in and sit in the window seat.

I love the floor to ceiling windows. The whole inn was full of character. There were several sitting areas with books and interesting places to sit. The front of the building walks out onto street level, while the back is lower on the river side.

While we were staying in Savannah there was an oil spill that closed the Savannah River. The liners and ships were waiting in line out in the Atlantic. Once it was cleared the traffic flow was a sight to behold.

Savannah, Georgia is a an interesting place to visit. One of my favorite places to stay. I would like to return again one day and hopefully stay at the River Street Inn.
