When I started Chasing Hard Podcast, it was a choosing-to-obey-the-hard-call kind of thing. Chasing hard after God can mean chasing after hard things. Not that we go looking for hard things, they usually find us and when they do, we get to choose to obey the hard call.
Talking with Samantha Ortiz was an obey the hard call story.
Samantha and her husband were doing life in Australia with their two young children, working at a church they loved when they felt God telling them it was time to go home, to return to the US. Their hearts hurt big but they knew they had to obey. When God has something for you to do, whether it makes sense or not, whether it’s what you want or not, it’s always best to obey the hard call.
There have been times in my life when things were so painful I didn’t know if I would make it through the day.

Each of the people I talk with on Chasing Hard has story after story of overwhelming hardships, whether it’s infertility, anger issues, betrayal or the unexpected death of a loved one. There was a point when each of them had to choose to obey the hard call in order to get on with their lives. I’m sure you’ve been there too.
Because, the thing is, if we don’t opt in to follow God and obey the hard call, we stagnate, we stop growing, we stop living. That’s no life at all.
It takes a courageous person to obey the hard call. It takes a crew, a group of people to walk with you. Inviting people into your hard stuff can be scary but since you’re reading this and listening to Chasing Hard, you are one of the braves ones.
