Not Stuck

The devotional reading for today was exactly what I needed to hear. Funny how that happens.
I’ll spare you the details, but this has been a difficult week…mentally and emotionally, due to external circumstances…among other things. So here is the devotional:
This is the day that I have made. Rejoice and be glad in it. Begin the day with open hands of faith, ready to receive all that I am pouring into this brief portion of your life. Be careful not to complain about anything, even the weather, since I am the Author of your circumstances. The best way to handle unwanted situations is to thank Me for them. This act of faith frees you from resentment and frees Me to work My ways into the situations, so that good emerges from it.
To find Joy in this day you must live within its boundaries. I knew what I was doing when I divided time into twenty-four hour segments. I understand human frailty, and I know that you can bear the weight of only one day at a time. Do not worry about tomorrow or get stuck in the past. There is abundant Life in My Presence today.
Psalm 118:24; Philippians 3:13-14
I fight being stuck in the past on a regular basis. Not proud of the fact, just stating it. I also tend to feel, because of some circumstances, not quite as hopeful about the future as I would like. I need to stay with today. That was a good reminder.
It’s hard for me not to compare, good and bad, my situation with others. I most often find what I perceive as better than mine. I have to remind myself that we all have things to deal with, and things aren’t always what that seem. And then there are the obvious situations where I KNOW I don’t want to be.
Now it’s time to go clean the common areas of some condos. Note to self: don’t get stuck, whether in an elevator or in a life situation.
