Handy Pies

I’m such a smart shopper and menu planner! Okay, not really. I’ve never been much for planning two more meals with items I purchase. Well, I’m here to tell you I did it! It was sort of an accident but I actually made it work.

My 365 easy recipe for today is Handy Pies, using the pastry puff I had left over from Mini Party Burgers.

Without further ado, I give you Handy Pies.

Cut a sheet of thawed puff pastry into nine squares. top each with 1 tsp. Nutella ( I used Hershey’s) and orange zest. Fold into triangle, sealing edges with egg wash (1 egg plus 1 Tbls. water). Bake at 400º for 17-20 minutes. Cool, drizzle with a glaze of confectioners’ sugar, OJ and orange zest.

I’m the wing-it queen, right? Well here are my alterations.

I didn’t have any orange zest so I didn’t use it. I also didn’t use an egg wash. And I didn’t make a glaze to drizzle over the handy pies. They were good the way they were. I’m equally as sure they would be good if one chose to follow the recipe.

I did, however, sprinkle confectioners’ sugar on top of the pies.
