I recently posted that we are house hunting and we found two houses we liked. Well…we bought a house! We actually had two offers going at once. One on the house that holds my heart and the other one which is all about location, location, location and the fact that it’s a great deal.
This is it! Not a great shot but you get the picture…pun not intended but whatcha gonna do?
I am a fan of the show House Hunters. I do believe I posted about that before. I’m not a big television watcher but I do like this show. I know, I know, it’s staged. Who woulda thought? That show makes it look easier than it is.
I was such a mess yesterday as I weighed the pros and cons of each house, knowing which one I really wanted but knowing too how the other was probably the way to go at this point in our lives. The house that is the better fit makes more sense for us. So I made a two year plan in case we get this one. We will move into this house that is more than ample room for our family of five, in a great location, for a great price, a house that will sell the day after it’s put on the market. We will make some updates as we go along, to add to the instant equity that we basically purchased. That’s what this house is about. It’s a good deal and the house works for us.
On the other hand, my heart sank as I heard the news that our offer was rejected on the other house I really wanted to buy, even though I figured it would be rejected. We had to try and we did, so I’m okay. I put on my big girl panties and decided to make the best of this new adventure I find myself on, because life is, after all, an adventure. Don’t let anyone tell you any different.
I’m proud of the decision we made. I know we will enjoy the house and hopefully learn a few things about DYI and home improvements along the way, because, hey, WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!
Any home improvement/DYIers out there that have tried and true advice? I’m not sure what we’re in for but let the ride begin.
Congratulations! That was fast. 🙂
Thanks but not really fast, Chip. I’ve been looking at houses for 5 weeks. I lost count of how many I’ve walked through and driven by. I hope your house woes are better.

I like thsi style of house. My hint…paint is cheap and can be changed easily. Clean and tidy makes everything look better inside and out! Of course I have no idea what the actual stte of the house is in. THe yard has super potential for grace adn beauty. Hope you all find that in your new home.
Paint is high on the list. The state of the house needs updating but we’ll take that slow. It’s a nice setting.

Congrats! House hunting/buying/building is one of the most stressful things in life. Welcome to the Money Pit Club! 🙂
Don’t remind me, it’s been awhile. I can still back out. 🙂

Laurie, congratulations! A new house is always exciting- and new project ideas are fun to explore! Can’t wait to read about it all!
Thanks Joy. I am excited! It is begging for new projects and I’m up for it!
Congrats on finding a home!! 🙂 How cool is that? Very!!! The new house looks beautiful 😉
Aww, thanks. We’re excited!
Congrats!! I’m sorry you didn’t get the one you wanted, but it’s also exciting to see what God has planned at this one. I’m NOT a DIY kind of person, but love to see what others do. Can’t wait to read about it! 😉
I’m with you Adrienne. Totally a God thing, and we’ll see how this DIY thing works out!
