A Plan For Your Life

Do you have a plan for your life? Are you the kind of person who not only sets goals but actually meets them? You know what I’m talking about, right? Where do you want to be in five years with in your relationship, finances, career?

And more importantly, do you believe God has a plan for your life?

God has a plan, when plans change, God never changes,

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (ESV).

As a wife of an addict those last few words might stop you in your tracks. “A plan to give you hope and a future” sounds incredibly out of reach, because there are times when you feel like your life is over. Am I right?

I think about that every now and then, about the struggles I have had in my life and how it lines up with that scripture. Not so much questioning why things happened, or if I could have done something differently to have gotten an outcome other than the one I got, or if I perhaps made the wrong choices and my future was set in motion because of my choices.

Here’s the thing, the answer to those questions doesn’t really matter. I am where I am, and so are you.

What matters is this:

*God is not limited by your mistakes or oversights.

*It doesn’t matter the choices you made, or the things that happened to you whether you asked for or anticipated them or not, because where you are today is where you are.

God is not limited by the constraints of our decisions, nor is He limited by our way of thinking, but here’s the one that blows me away…He isn’t bound by time. He was there at the very beginning of all things. He had a purpose and plan for your future on the day you were born AND He never changes.

God has a plan, when plans change, God never changes,

This verse in Jeremiah is one that we can cling to when our lives get broke. As we pick up the pieces of us that have been shattered by an unseemly event or tragedy that boggles our minds and leave us without hope, He has a plan and purpose for your future.

When we struggle with a loss so devastating that we find it hard to take the next breathe, He has a plan and purpose for our lives. Click To Tweet

When the one we trusted with our hearts and lives betrays us, He has a plan and purpose.

He had a plan and purpose for you on the day you were born.

He had a plan and purpose for you when you were being lied to and betrayed.

He had a plan and purpose when you had your first child, or lost your best friend, or job, or loved one to an unexpected death or a long drawn out illness. He had a plan then and He has a plan now, and I’m pretty sure the plan never changed.

Because God’s plan doesn’t depend on you. It belongs to God. Click To Tweet His plan and purpose for your future is the same plan He has for your present, and the plan He had for your past. Click To Tweet

Does this throw you off? It’s okay. It’s a different way to view the scripture in Jeremiah but a good way nonetheless.

I get that you may have experienced something new, unexpected and life altering, or perhaps something old has reared it’s ugly head again. It makes no difference. God still has a plan and purpose for you. For your future, for your present, the path your are currently on. He never changes. This promise to us from our Father encompasses the events that happened years ago or even yesterday and any new situations and circumstances and the on-going things in our lives today.

I am here to encourage you to look to Him, trust in Him even when it feels like He isn’t even aware.

He is.

He knows.

He cares.

And He has a plan and purpose for your life, no matter what has happened to you or is happening now.

God has a plan for your life.
